Winner of the John Cassavettes Award at the 2024 Independent Spirit Awards, Girls Will Be Girls (2024) is a delicately crafted story from director Shuchi Talati and producers Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal. The film follows Mira (Preeti Panigrahi), the prefect of an Indian boarding school in her senior year, as she begins to experiment with her sexuality. When she begins a relationship with a fellow student, her mother (Kani Kusruti) takes notice and tries to take matters into her own hands. Handling complicated thematic elements in an undeniably bold manner, the film gives a voice to Indian woman that is rarely, if ever, seen on screen.
Zach’s work for this film involved creating and managing its social media accounts (creating posts, short video content, graphics, collaborative posting, etc); and coordinating outreach to numerous grassroots organizations.
