Spectacle Trailer – Editor
The only film directed by José Hipólito Trigueirinho Neto, Bahia of All Saints (1960) follows Tonio, an outlaw living on the outskirts of his Brazilian town, as he gets involved in a conflict between the local police and striking factory workers. A precursor to the Cinema Novo movement in Brazil, the film is a perfectly nuanced portrayal of political unrest and economic inequality and is as relevant as ever today. The film played as part of the The Cinema of Salvador (1953-1962) series at the Spectacle Theater in Brooklyn, NY in 2022.
The film has never been released in the U.S., I was provided an SD digital file to work with and that can be seen in this trailer.
